Clinical Care Assistant (Medical Assistant) – Special Care at Home Job Summary The CAH Clinical Care Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients, under the direction of a provider at home setting. The position requires the employee to have personal transportation and proof of insurance in order to commute to patients’ home and travel up to 75 miles per day total between patients’ homes and Sanitas centers for lab processing. Company will provide car allowance for employee travel needs. Essential Job Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Arrive 15 mins prior to visit to interview patients, measure vital signs and record information in patient charts. Gives direct patient care and performs activities and laboratory functions, under the direction of a provider. Adheres to Nursing Department policies and procedures. Checks equipment and supplies prior to use, perform inspection for malfunction/ expiration date of medical equipment. Assist provider with examination as required. Engage in quality control (i.e. Glucometer , sample cooler temperature). Process lab samples at nearest Sanitas lab facilities. Able to work a flexible schedule. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to work standing up, walk, use hands to operate tools and equipment and must be able to exert regularly up to 10 pounds of force, frequently exert 30 pounds of force and occasionally exert 50 pounds of force to constantly perform the essential job functions. The employee will be frequently required to reach with hands and arms, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and pull. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker is subject to noise; there may be sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. Required Education and Experience High School or Technical school education. Phlebotomy certification. One (1) year of medical assistant experience required. Medical Assistant and BLS certification. Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience, include draw samples at home. Preferred Education and Experience ** English proficiency is a must. Candidates with abilities to speak other languages such as: Spanish, Creole or others are highly encouraged to apply.
