Summary: Medical Assistants III play a vital role in ensuring that healthcare facilities run smoothly. The Medical Assistant supports the clinicxe2x80x99s administrative and clinical tasks, such as maintaining patient records, preparing examination rooms, assisting physicians with exams, and performing front-desk tasks. The Medical Assistant works under immediate supervision and report to the Clinic Manager. Medical assistants are essential to delivering high-quality patient care at Southern California Medical Center. Essential Functions: Welcome patients by greeting them in person or on the telephone. Verify patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, confirming purpose of visit. Prepare patients by directing and/or accompanying them to the exam room. Prepare equipment and exam rooms,and clean instruments Perform preliminary physical tests; take blood pressure, weight and temperature; report patient history summary. Communicate with patients and informing them about normal or abnormal laboratory test results as instructed by Clinic Manager. Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential. Maintain safe, secure and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations Complete records by recording / documenting patient examination, treatment, telemedicine, office visits and test results. Serve and protect the physician or healthcare provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, HIPPA regulations, federal, state and local requirements and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms with appropriate supplies Maintaining all patient appointments and services. Knowledge of patient vitals, Chief complaint, patient referral, Administering Injections, Apply dressing. Basic Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Full Knowledge of office procedures including Hemoglobin, Glucose, Blood draws, uranalysis. Work closely with providers to assist in exams, procedures, collecting and preparing. Full knowledge of insurance, medical and commercial and referrals. Knowledge of complex procedures, wound care, skin tags, nail removal etc. Maintaining Medical records and coding Advocating for patients with Insurance companies. 2 years of EHR experience Assisting and completing orders by physicians in EHR system. Understanding of Clinical Measures Updating Log including VFC, Temp, ER Kits. Great Team Communication including leading the clinical flow Finalizing providers notes Adding order in the EHR system Handing Correspondence including billed and unbilled encounters. Full Knowledge of CPR, OSHA, HIPPA and Compliance. Any other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: xc2xb7 Medical Assistant Diploma or Certification required. xc2xb7 5+ Yearsxe2x80x99 Experience as a Medical Assistant.
