This position is eligible for our sign on bonus of $1000.The Medical Assistant Certified I works closely with a team of providers and advanced providers to ensure the delivery of high quality, patient-centered care. The MAC I is responsible for timely and efficient patient interaction as well as assisting with exams, procedures, and tests under the supervision of a licensed medical provider in a Medical Home environment.Essential Functions/ Responsibilities Escort patients to examination rooms, obtain vital signs, review and reconcile pertinent patient information and history in preparation for appointment with provider. Administer diagnostic tests and physician-approved procedures, such as immunizations and others as assigned. Successfully collaborate and work in support of the team to ensure efficient and quality patient care. Update the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) with relevant information. Successfully work in a fast-paced, changing environment. with effective time management and ability to multi-task and prioritize workload. Schedule patient appointments answer the telephone, and follow-up with patients/families in a professional and courteous manner. Participate in site-specific and clinic-wide initiatives on an ongoing basis. Attend and actively participates in huddles and team meetings. Always maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information. Sustain excellent patient interactions using clear communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain acceptable standards of office conduct. Punctual, regular, timely, and dependable attendance. Secondary Functions Maintain inventory, checking expiration dates and stock levels of medical supplies for the clinic. Track vaccine inventory ensure pulling correct stock. Other duties as assigned by manager. Specific Job Skills Aptitude for relating well to the pediatric population and their families. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both in person and over the telephone. Strong customer service, time-management, and decision-making skills essential. Effectively present and demonstrate relevant information to families and peers. Must be able to perform a variety of job functions related to a medical setting (i.e., medical procedures). Excellent attention to detail. Fluent English. General math skills. Working knowledge of computer hardware/software required. Mistakes/errors may result in disrupting scheduled patient flow, holding up insurance billing, incorrect EMR documentation, causing poor patient relations, and/or damage to patient care services, all of which can have negative financial implications for the organization.Job ConditionsThis position requires the incumbent to work in an environment where there may be regular exposure to the following: Equipment, materials, dressings, linens, or personal items soiled with blood/body fluids. This would include cleaning and disinfecting soiled items, surfaces, or materials. Handling of infectious waste. Handling specimens of blood or body fluids, including secretions and excretions. Exposure to various chemical agents typically used in a clinical setting. Must be able to stand, stoop, walk, bend, and kneel for prolonged periods of time. Work closely with others in a team setting. Work in a fast-paced, changing environment. Interpersonal ContactsThis position has both internal and external contacts. The most common internal contacts are with own site staff and supervisor. The most frequent external contacts are with patients. Both types of contacts are as a result of regular, ongoing duties and involve information exchange and problem solving. The majority of all contacts are with external customers face-to-face and over the telephone. All other contacts are internal in nature.Education/ Experience High school education or equivalent required. 6-12 months of experience in a clinical setting or relevant courses taken at an accredited vocational school, or a combination of both required. Medical assistant certification/license preferred (CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, EMT or LPN). If not currently certified, this position requires successfully obtaining medical assistant credentials within 6 months from date of hire and must be kept current. Prior EMR experience preferred. CPR and basic life support required and maintained.
