The Controller will preport to the CFO and will manage an accounting team of 4 for a well established construction management firm. Superb culture/team environment, great benefits, ongoing training & development, discretionary bonus, and a hybrid work model are just a few of the perks!Responsibilities:Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality work and professional development.Financial Management: Manage all aspects of financial operations, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, collections, and payroll.Reporting and Analysis: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analysis to support decision-making and provide insights to senior management.Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with various departments to develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial goals, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.Payroll Management: Payroll processing functions to include deductions, directo deposits, contributions, etc.Compliance and Taxation: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including sales tax returns and union benefits, and work closely with external auditors for annual audits.Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance financial processes, systems, and controls to optimize efficiency and accuracy.Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, and project management, to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks, including analyzing WIP (work-in-progress) and ensuring proper control over project costs.Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including banks, vendors, and clients, to support the organization’s financial objectives.Implementation: Experience with software implementation is highly preferredQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is highly preferred.Minimum of 5xc2xa0years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry for midsize firm up $200-500mil.Strong knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.Proficiency in using financial software and ERP systems. Experience with construction-specific software.Extensive experience in managing payroll, wage calculations, andxc2xa0benefits in conjuction with HR.Solid understanding of tax regulations and experience in filing sales tax returns.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
