A Brief Overview Responsible for assisting the physician in caring for the patient and family in accordance with organization protocols, policies and procedures. Essential Functions Assists in the assessment of the health status of individuals including the delivery of patient care to patients and families under the direction of RN or LPN. xe2x80xa2 Performs treatments, procedures, diagnostic testing and medication/immunization administration in a compassionate manner under the direction of a licensed practitioner. xe2x80xa2 Collects data regarding patientxe2x80x99s vital signs and growth and development when interviewing patients/families in the office. xe2x80xa2 Coordinates the scheduling of diagnostic tests and procedures with the patient/family, physicians/hospitals and the insurance companies as directed by the provider. xe2x80xa2 Assists the physician or pediatric nurse practitioner in patient teaching as directed or according to clinic protocol. xe2x80xa2 Demonstrates knowledge and provides care based on age-specific or developmental milestones for infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent according to protocol. xe2x80xa2 Completes all required patient care documentation and reporting in accurate and timely manner within the electronic medical record. xe2x80xa2 Responds appropriately in crisis situations or life threatening emergencies. xe2x80xa2 Takes direction from the physician or pediatric nurse practitioner in the delivery on patient care. xe2x80xa2 Assists with clerical duties as directed by the office manager. Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job. Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section Education Qualifications Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or current and valid national certification as a Medical Assistant (NCMA) Required Skills and Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills Licenses and Certifications Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association Required and Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA Preferred and Current and valid Medication Aide Registration with the Nebraska State Medication Aide Registry if working in Nebraska within 90 Days Required Travel to other Childrenxe2x80x99s Physician clinics, may be required based on staffing needs Childrenxe2x80x99s is the very best for kids and the very best for your career!
