The MA or CMA provides medical assisting care under the direction of a physician. Attends daily clinical huddles as part of the Care Team and is familiar with the team-based approach. Assists in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs. Renders medical assisting care to patients in a physician office setting. Assists physician with diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, assuring procedures are provided in a safe, clean, competent manner/environment. Maintains a clean, safe, well-stocked nursing area, including patient examination rooms. Maintains a complete, accurate, and legible medical record reflecting the patientxe2x80x99s condition, medication, treatment, and any other pertinent information relevant to total patient care (calling in prescriptions, patient telephone calls, communicating patient requests and complaints to physician or appropriate personnel, follow-through of physician orders according to defined office protocol.) Functions independently and assumes responsibility for actions in clinical procedures in accordance with ability and training after such clinical ability has been demonstrated and documented. Maintains a working knowledge of business office protocol/procedure. Provides clinical telephone triage/communication as defined by protocol or per physician instructions. Attends continuing education in-services to maintain medical assisting expertise. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or the equivalent required. Graduate of a medical assistant training program OR at least three years of work experience in patient care, preferably in a medical group setting; If not certified, must be eligible for CMA certification. CMA certification required; If not certified, must obtain certification within 6 months of hire Clinical experience in Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, and Surgery preferred. CPR certification required. Must be able to work irregular hours.
