Job Description Summary The Certified Medical Assistant assist in the provision of patient care by performing assigned tasks according to policy. Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Identify abnormal assessments of findings, communicating findings to physician and document assessment findings in the appropriate format. Document all activities according to defined guidelines in a timely manner by including thorough and complete information and properly identifying self on all patient records. Assist in the education process for the patient. Obtain referral appointments, prior authorizations, and medicine for patients as needed. Demonstrate performance consistent with the mission and goals of the practice and organization; remain flexible to changing systems; and treats staff, physicians, patients, and visitors with consideration and respect. Creating a supportive environment by welcoming and assisting patients. Obtaining personal and health information, managing patient files, and updating electronic health records. Assisting healthcare professionals with patient examinations and minor procedures. Recording vital signs and collecting and preparing laboratory specimens. Performing minor diagnostic tests and administering treatment under the supervision of healthcare professionals. Assisting with administration duties, including scheduling appointments, arranging laboratory services and hospital admissions. Relaying diagnostic test and assessment results to healthcare professionals. Guiding patients through the facility, as well as explaining procedures and treatments. Setting up and replenishing stock in examination and procedure rooms. Sterilizing medical equipment and sanitizing designated areas Training of all new care team members in relationship to daily office operations. Additional Job Description Education: High school diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred. Certification/Licensure: Current certification through American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), National Association of Healthcare Professionals (NAHP), Medical Career Assessments (MedCA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) required.
