Medical Assistant will be responsible for the day-to day operations of a high volume practice by assisting the professional faculty and nurse practitioner(s) in Columbia Pulmonary Associates. The Medical Assistant is accountable for providing quality care services and assisting the patients as needed in order to ensure a positive patient experience. The Medical Assistant will ensure that all patients, guests, visitors and team members receive prompt and personalized attention and are treated with dignity and respect.RESPONSIBILITIES: * Escort patients from waiting area to exam room Take and record vitals and appropriate meaningful use information Assisting providers with medical scribing to document patientxe2x80x99s medical records. Requires attention to detail and accuracy, and must adhere to practice protocols and processes. Inform patients of exam room delays Provide backup coverage for Medical Assistants and office assistants team members as needed Adhere to Divisional phone and email communication standards Check Epic in basket messages daily and clear all Epic in basket messages by the end of business day and or within 24 hours. Facilitate completion of disability papers, insurance and return to work letters, letters of medical necessity, visiting nurse paperwork Responsible for documentation of patient history in Crown/Epic: Problems, Past Medical History, Past Surgical History, Social History, Allergies, Medication History, Immunization History and Chief Complaint. Reconcile medications and allergies and verify patientxe2x80x99s pharmacy information is accurate and updated. Assist physician and/or nursing staff and/or prepare exam room for patient treatments and procedures Prepare and label specimens with required clinical information CROWN/Epic Order Entry (Required) Maintain exam rooms and utility areas Coordinate patient flow with provider, front desk coordinator and secretary Remove and appropriately dispose of expired medical supplies and materials Maintain sterile and non-sterile equipment Keep current on all medical emergency procedures Maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies in exam rooms Manage medical supply orders and room stocking Perform other duties as assigned Conforms to all applicable HIPAA, Billing compliance and safety Provide back up and assistance as needed to office staff for scheduling and confirming office visits, procedures and tests. Position Qualifications:Minimum Education:High school graduate/ EquivalentCertified Medical Assistant Minimum Experience:Knowledge of Epic and scheduling systems preferred.Knowledge of Medical terminology. 2-3 years of related experience.Possess knowledge of modern office equipment, systems and procedures.Ability to work independently and takes initiative to improve overall office operationsStrong interpersonal skills Physical Requirements:Must have excellent customer service skills in a high-pressure environment.Must be able to interact with all levels of staff and must have an understanding of patientxe2x80x99s confidentiality.Bilingual with Spanish is an added plus.
