Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Michigan Heart & Vascular Institute Primary location: Ann Arbor, MI* Team members must be willing and able to travel to other MHVI locations for coverage, as needed Shift: Days Monday-Friday, exact times TBA (between 730am-530pm) Education High School Diploma or equivalency and successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant (clinical) program. Licensure Certification through an NCCA accredited program (CMA, CCMA, RMA), may consider a candidate that recently completed the MA training and is eligible to register to take the exam through one of the approved providers prior to date of hire. The approved provider list includes the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National HealthCareer Association (NHA) or the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT Experience 2 years previous clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Full benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, Life Insurance, Short and Long-term Disability Retirement savings plan with employer match and contributions Opportunity for growth and advancement throughout SJMHS and Trinity Health Tuition Reimbursement POSITION PURPOSE Under physician direction and supervision, prepares patients for office visit, takes vital signs and records in medical record, obtains patient chief complaint, escorts patient to exam room, and prepares patient for physician visit. Assures patients are ready in the exam rooms for physician/mid-level provider arrival. What you will do: Reviews patient medical record to assure that all needed test results, forms and reports are available to physician/provider. Assists physicians/providers with procedures and processes specimens according to established procedures. Performs in-office testing at direction of physician/provider e.g. EKG, urinalysis, suture removals, injections, immunizations, etc. Arranges patient hospital admissions and test scheduling. Assures that clinical areas and drug sample areas are maintained according to Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies. Maintains exam rooms to ensure supplies are present and that room and equipment is in working order and in clean condition. May assist with medication, laboratory and radiology order entry (including ECGs) into the EHR if a credentialed Medical Assistant through an approved ICE NCCA provider.
