TRAVEL REQUIRED between our Nassau County locations & some Queens locations (Merrick, Woodbury, Massapequa, Syosset etc.). *Certified Medical Assistant or has graduated from a Medical Assisting school (diploma), REQUIRED *CPR Certification REQUIRED Certified Medical Assistant General Summary: Highly patient facing role in a busy pain management office, requiring organization, customer service skills, and ability with excel in a fast paced work environment. Preparing patients from beginning of their visit, vitals, charting, specimen collection, setting up injections, escorting patients to the check out desk at the end of their visit. Responsibilities include: Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room. Directs patient to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout. Maintains order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepares exam room for patients to enter. Prepares and sets up supplies for daily injections, cleans & sterilizes instruments. Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation including ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present in the chart (presenting x-rays, MRI’s, CT’s, and various studies pertaining to the patient’s exam). Prepares patients charts by recording reason for visit and related patient information for practitioner review; may refer to last progress notes. Records vitals as per Physician’s request. Assist with examinations and treatment of patients as directed. Handles instruments and materials to doctors as directed. Covers MED phones, email set up for voicemails, sending messages to appropriate doctors and staff. Adheres to infection control standards including, but not limited to, hand hygiene, use of PPE, and equipment disinfection/sterilization. Requesting reports and results from referring doctors and laboratories. Prepare labels and requisitions for laboratory testing. Marginal Duties: Preparing disability forms, work/school notes, surgery packets and surgical authorizations. Collaborates with members of the health care team in coordinating and implementing plans for patient care. Monitor and maintain inventory of medical supplies and materials; stocks assigned rooms. Performs variety of other clerical functions such as filing medical records, answering phones, scheduling appointments; and assuring efficient flow of patients through the suite, etc. Candidate Requirements: Certified Medical Assistant or has graduated from a Medical Assisting school (diploma), REQUIRED CPR certification required Minimum of 1 year experience in the medical field; orthopedic experience preferred Knowledge of ICD10 and CPT codes preferred Must have knowledge and follow O.S.H.A. standards. General knowledge of office procedures and computer systems.
