Certified Medical Assistant / Front Office Assistant *Hybrid Schedule Between Cranberry Township & New Castle* General Position Description: Our small busy Endocrinology practice supports one Physician and requires a full time Medical Assistant and full time Front Office Assistant. Duties will be divided but will overlap from time to time. Front Office Assistant Core responsibilities Patient Check in includes welcoming all patients and visitors by greeting them in person, answering inquiries and directing them through the registration process. This includes collect all insurance information, verify patient demographics. Discharge of patients includes scheduling follow up appointments, processing payments, and scheduling imaging and referral appointments. Management new patient registrations and appointment setup. Management of office supplies and services. Medical Assistant Core responsibilities Accompany patients to exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. Collect patient information/history; taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines. Relay instructions to patients/families. Preparation of patient rooms including but not limited to basic cleaning of exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Management of inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms. Obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms/requisitions as needed. Management of patient prescription refills, prior authorizations and insurance queries. Both the Medical Assistant and Front office assistant will be responsible for: Utilizing a multi-line phone system, fax machine, printer, copier, and scanner to process patients. Ensures messages and callbacks are processed in a timely manner and that faxes attended to. Answers practice emails in a timely and professional manner. Supervising the records clerk in the preparation and management of charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately. Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance. Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations. Assists the practicing Physician in ensuring that all patient information is entered in the Electronic Health system accurately and in a timely manner. The best candidate will have: High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of Medical Assistant program preferred or equivalent hospital program or minimum of one year of direct patient care experience. Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities. Knowledge of basic computer software, and the ability to learn computer software relating to Electronic Medical Records (EMR) required. Specific EMR experience preferred. Communicates well with patients and medical staff Prior experience in a medical office setting Ability to follow OSHA/HIPPAA guidelines While the position is mostly based out of the Cranberry office, it may require working from the New Castle office. The position requires ability to stand and sit for hours at a time, (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 20 lbs. The candidate will be required to comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
