Certified Medical Assistant Job DutiesThe work of The Jones Centers CMAxe2x80x99s is multifaceted and vital to the success of our practice. Adhering to all confidentiality principles and laws Communicating with a large variety of individuals (and adapting that communication as needed) Respecting patient diversity regarding culture, race, religion, age, gender, economic status, etc. Remaining professionals regarding all patient and professional interactions, either written or face-to-face Remaining in compliance with all safety and risk management procedures Ensuring a high level of effective interaction with staff and patients as to optimize workflow efficiency Maintaining accurate patient records Practicing standard precautions Documenting patients, observations, and clinical treatments in the EMR Ensuring that all care is provided within ethical and legal boundaries Although specific Medical Assistant job duties may vary according to specific Physicians work flow, a general Medical Assistant job description will likely include the following: Reporting directly to a Physician, Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. Measuring and recording vital signs, including: Blood pressure Pulse Temperature Weight Height Instructing patients on medication administration, diet, exercise, and other physician-directed orders Keeping accurate patient records and ensuring that all related reports, information, and lab results are filed and organized with their patient records Keeping exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and instruments Preparing and cleaning examination rooms between patients Sterilizing medical instruments Answering phone calls from patients, physicians, and pharmacies Calling in prescriptions and prescription refills Qualifications for Medical Assistant High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited medical assistance certification program preferred Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner at all times Must be detail-oriented and highly organized Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times Job Type: Full-time Pay: $14.00 – $22.00 per hour Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Disability insurance Flexible spending account Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Medical specialties: Endocrinology Schedule: 8 hour shift No weekends Work setting: In-person Outpatient Experience: Medical Office Experience: 2 years (Required) Vital Signs Experience: 2 years (Required) EMR Systems: 2 years (Required) License/Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred) Work Location: In person
