Cross Roads Hormonal Health & Wellness Job Description Certified Medical Assistant General Summary of Duties: Responsible for providing professional and courteous clinical care for patients under supervision of the physician. Assists provider and staff in coordinating patient care. Shows initiative to learn and grow within our field of practice and has the ability to problem solve with an upbeat attitude. Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff and physician. Major Responsibilities/Tasks: 1. Assesses patient’s general condition and takes vital signs and weight. 2. Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination and testing of patients. 3. Educates patient/family about diagnostic procedures, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness. 4. Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests. 5. Maintains/reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Records tests and examination results in patient’s chart. 6. Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. 7. Experience with, or a strong interest in, assisting with cosmetic injections 8. Maintains patient confidentiality. 9. Schedule referrals and tests. 10. Perform other related duties as directed or required. REQUIREMENTS: Medical Assistant Certification preferred or currently taking a medical assistant course SKILLS: 1. Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques. 2. Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace and confidentiality methods. 3. Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data. ABILITIES: 1. Ability to work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff. 2. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. 3. Ability to appropriately interact with patients, families, staff and others. 4. Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands with an upbeat attitude. 5. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize efficient patient care and work flow. 6. Ability to communicate clearly and kindly. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending and lifting. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment.
