Job Summary:Position requires a customer service focus and commitment to perform various direct patient care activities under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor. Assists with diagnostic testing and clinical procedures in accordance with level of training and departmental procedures. Must possess willingness to accept direction and perform repetitive tasks. Previous medical experience is desirable.xc2xa0Duties and Responsibilities:1. Performs nursing procedures under supervision of a physician.2. Assists physicians with patient examinations.3. Gives instructions to patients as directed by physicians.4. Takes patient blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respiration readings.5. Assists patients any time need is apparent or as directed by the clinical supervisor or physicians.6. Applies and removes casts and splints as directed by physicians and instructs on care.7. Prepares surgery packets8. Gives patient verbal and written post-op instructions.9. Calls in prescriptions and takes/returns patient phone calls.10. Calls patients with test results as directed by physician.11. Cleans rooms/counter tops weekly and changes sheets and pillowcases.12. Completes forms as needed for blood tests, aspires, etc.13. If certified-performs bone density test and reports results to patient as instructed by physician.14. Assists with any procedures that have been taught through formal training or by a licensed nurse or physician.15. Assists in lab or X-Ray procedures under the supervision of a physician and for which training has been given.16. Keeps medical records and forms in accordance with procedures and protocol.17. Follows principles of medical ethics for medical assistant.18. Keeps rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, washes and dries instruments used in accordance with sterilization procedures and protocol.19. Complies with all policies and procedures of the Practice.20. Completes all other duties as assigned by supervisor or physicians.xc2xa0Education: A high school diploma or equivalent required and possess certification from Amercian Association of Medical Assistants.Experience: Previous medical experience is desirable.Knowledge:xc2xb7 Knowledge of health care field and medical specialty.xc2xb7 Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical specialty.xc2xb7 Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.Skills:xc2xb7 Skills in performing assistance tasks appropriately.xc2xb7 Skills in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.xc2xb7 Skills in understanding of patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patient and families.xc2xb7 Skills in computer programs and applications.Abilities:xc2xb7 Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.xc2xb7 Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.xc2xb7 Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.xc2xb7 Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.Environmental/Working Conditions:xc2xb7 Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. Well-lighted, well-ventilated, adequate space.
