ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a passion to help patients is a key and essential duty Responsible to document in the electronic medical record all information conveyed by the patient regarding their health Responsible for preparing the exam room for the patient visit and or procedure Responsible for documenting in the EHR the chief complaint from the patientxe2x80x99s own statements Responsible for obtaining, protecting and abiding by the HIPAA regulations for the safety of patient information as required by federal law Responsible for protecting the patientxe2x80x99s rights in compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient rights within the office Responsible for following policy and procedures in compliance with office regulations or other healthcare regulations Responsible for contributing to team efforts to provide best outcomes for patient health care Responsible for focus on quality and HEDIS measures as well as documentation of completion of such measures or notification to the provider should the patient need referrals Responsible to communicate with all patients in a courteous and compassionate manner using key listening and fact-finding techniques Responsible for reviewing personal, family and social history information with the patient and documenting the findings into the chart for review and confirmation by the provider Responsible for reviewing patient records prior to the visit to glean information regarding upcoming needs of the patient such as preventative tests, prescription refills and other pertinent patient needs Provides injections and immunizations as directed by the provider Responsible for assistance to the provider during office procedures Responsible for returning calls and answering patient questions throughout the workday Prepares, cleans, stocks and maintains the exam rooms and medical supply inventory as needed Responsible to document all patient calls and maintain legible logs of all patient calls Responsible for scheduling referral appointments, follow up appointments, scheduling ordered test with outside healthcare resources, and gaining authorizations and pre-certifications for medications or visits as required by the patientxe2x80x99s insurance carrier Responsible for triaging patient telephone calls throughout the day and responding accordingly Utilizes proper grammar and notifications within the EHR Responsible to adhere to the Code of Conduct for the practice and treats patients, visitors, co-workers and providers with dignity and respect. Maintains strict confidentiality of all information Other duties as assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant Required. Experience in a primary care physician office preferred BLS Certification required Proficient computer skills required.
