CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT (CMA) SITE OF SERVICE: Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, CA and Associated Clinics Edson Range 31 Area Branch Clinic 13 Area Branch Clinic Services may also be required at various clinics at NHCP and the Branch/Area Health Clinics located within Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. FT POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS: Degree: Certificate. Education: Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) Accrediting Council for continuing Education and Training (ACCET) Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior College (ACCJC) OR a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces. Certification: Current certification as a medical assistant by ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) American Medical Technologists (AMT) Experience: Six months of experience as a Medical Assistant after graduation. U.S. Citizenship: HCWs performing under this contract shall be U.S. citizens. English Language Requirement: The Contractor shall ensure that all HCWs providing services under this contract are able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate. HCW Physical Capability: HCWs shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required. HOURS: Services shall be provided in the assigned clinical area Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0700-1800 for an 8.5 or 9 hour shift. Inclusive of an uncompensated 30 minute or 1 hour meal break depending on shift length. In no instance will the HCWs be required to provide services in excess of 80 hours per 2-week period. DUTIES: Maintain a level of productivity comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services. Function with an awareness and application of safety procedures. Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events. Anticipate potential problems/emergencies and make appropriate interventions. Notify supervisor, director, or other designated person regarding problems that the HCW is unable to manage. Apply an awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and strive to manage situations in a reduced risk manner.
