JOB SUMMARY: The Traveling Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians running smoothly. They are primarily responsible for administrative portion of the designated health care facility under supervision of the practicing physicians/office manager. JOB DUTIES: Preparing patients for examination by the physician Preparing examination rooms for patient visits Guide the patients to examination room and across the health facility as required Carrying out all clinic-based patient procedures such as taking history and vitals, physical screening, drawing blood for labs and administering immunizations and injections Assisting physicians during patient examinations Educating and explaining to patients the treatment procedures, plan, costs and follow up schedule Preparing patient documents including diagnostic orders, prescriptions, refill requests, referral requests and ensuring online update of patient records with any such documents Preparation of patient records for physiciansxe2x80x99 review Updating patient records with relevant documents both in physical and online form Fill out insurance forms and insurance claims as required Arranging for hospital admissions when required Prescriptions and refill request handling; coordinating prescriptions with the pharmacy Coordinating and arranging laboratory procedures Collect and prepare laboratory specimens monitor handing over of specimens to laboratory Sterilize instruments and disposal of contaminated supplies. Carrying out diagnostic procedures such as X-rays, ECGs and EKGs where applicable Coordinate with ancillary or affiliate health care services of the designated health care facility Helping the front office and nursing staff in managing and streamlining the flow of patients Assist with managing telephone/online encounters with the patients Perform other duties as may be required. Requirements REQUIREMENTS Education and/or Experience Certified Medical Assistant Minimum of 6 months experience in a primary care setting Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to perform comprehensive medical histories and physical exams Ability to communication complex medical information to a diverse population Knowledgeable about record keeping, billing, coding and reimbursement processes Computer literate; knowledge and skill in the operation of computer systems and applications (medical software e.g. ECW/Medisoft and productivity software e.g. MS Office) Desired Skills Bilingual Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR) WORK ENVIRONMENT All work is performed within a standard health care/primary care clinical setting.
