POSITION: Certified Medical Assistant NurseDEPARTMENT: Andrews Family MedicineREPORTS TO: Andrews Family Medicine Nurse Manager Position Description:Knowledge of patientxe2x80x99s condition while in the office/clinic. Provides individualized nursing care considering the physical, psychological, environmental, spiritual, socioeconomic, and rehabilitative needs. Monitors patients for critical changes, and reports to MD or FNP and initiates emergency procedures as needed. Monitors and minimizes patient discomfort and pain. Adjusts environment to make it clean and safe for each individual patient. Safely administers medication and performs treatment according to Policy & Procedure. Provides accurate documentation in progress notes of the medical record chart. Sets up and/or assist with procedural trays and equipment. Glucometer Testing, Urine Pregnancy Testing, Urine Dipstick Analysis Testing, Influenza Testing, RSV Testing competency. Introducing self to patient/significant other and colleagues. Maintaining friendly, courteous and responsive interpersonal communication patterns. Communicates with physician and mid-level provider regarding patientxe2x80x99s condition related to physical and emotional status, reactions to treatment and other identified needs. Coordinates patient care with ancillary departments in an organized and effective manner. Communicates with peers, patients, family, physician, mid-level provider, health care workers and students to maintain a comfortable non-threatening relationship and to achieve desired goals of the clinic. Patient and/or significant others educational needs and making provisions to meet those needs. Explaining diagnostic and surgical procedures, regimens, and services to patient and/or significant other and documents the information in the Progress Notes. Continual provision of educational information to the patient and/or significant other regarding the current disease process, illness, or need and is addressed and documented in the Progress Notes. Providing and documenting discharge information which includes preventative health maintenance. Complying with infection control, electrical, and environmental safety policies and procedures with established protocols for fire, severe storms and tornadoes and emergency preparedness. Facilitates crisis intervention in anticipated acute emergency situations including all types of codes and other life threatening circumstances. Reports errors, omissions, and incidents or occurrence reports promptly in order to communicate unusual circumstances. Identifies and communicates need for change in policies and procedures to appropriate supervisor. Implement appropriated channel of communication concerned about nursing or medical care. Seeks and attends clinical learning experiences that extend his/her knowledge base. Utilizes and shares information from conferences or workshops which he/she attended. Maintains annual requirements including: CPR. Safety Fair/Re-orientation. Assists with planning and coordinating nursing care of patients. Guiding and directing nurse aids and other supporting staff. Actively participate in or preceptor progress for LVN, MA, and NA students and new employees. Actively participates in unitxe2x80x99s CQI program. Compliance with established unit routines as assigned (i.e. narcotic count, refrigerator temperatures, etc.). Contributes to cost containment efforts. Minimum Qualifications:. Current certification for medical assistant. Knowledge and Skills:The CMA will be expected to adhere to the office and/or hospital dress code. Maintains pleasant and cheerful demeanor. Acceptance of constructive criticism and strives for self-improvement. Organizes time to account for workload. Volunteers for extra job responsibilities and assignments. Ability to work with little supervision.
