Carefirst Family Medical, PC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist who will assist the physician and other staff by performing administrative and clinical duties under the direction of the physician. We are looking for someone who has at least one year of experience. We are looking for a team player who is a good communicator, friendly, compassionate, adaptable, dependable and a good multi-tasker. Carefirst Family Medical, PC is a busy family medicine practice that has patients of all ages and backgrounds. We have many patients that speak Mandarin. We look forward to adding the right candidate to our team. An English and Mandarin speaking candidate is preferred but not required. Required Qualifications: High school diploma/GED. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Certified in performing Phlebotomy and EKG with at least 1 year doing both. Must have at least 1 year of prior experience working as a Medical Assistant in a busy Primary Care Physician’s practice. Must have experience in completing prior authorizations for medications. Must have knowledge and understanding of medical terminology. Must have exceptional customer service and telephone etiquette. Must have ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow. Must have computer and/or EMR experience. Must be able to multi-task and work with a diverse patient population. Description Medical Assistant: Place patients in the examination rooms and document using the electronic medical record, medications, vitals and main reason for the visit. Perform screening and measuring procedures, which include, but are not limited to, height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, EKG. Ensure that all patient paperwork is completed during office visit. Review and assist doctor in completing all paperwork that patients may bring to their appointments. Complete prior authorizations for medications. Assist patients with any lab billing issues. Assist with setting up and preparing the patient and equipment for exams and special procedures as needed. Collect blood or other laboratory specimens as requested by the physician. Ensure accuracy of lab specimens and tests that are ordered. Perform routine laboratory tests. Enter proposed orders into Electrical Medical Record for licensed independent provider review and approval. Obtain previous test results from outside labs, radiology, physician’s offices, etc. Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physician’s instructions to the patient in a clear and effective manner. Call patients with test results and schedule a follow-up appointment if needed. Maintain an adequate supply of medical inventory in each exam room and lab. Assist in answering phones. Ensure the cleanliness of each exam room, lab and bathroom and waiting room. Prepare rooms before and after each patient and for specific procedures as needed. Assist with opening boxes/vaccine containers and placing items in their appropriate place. Assist with removal of all garbage/boxes at the end of each day. Ensure HIPAA and OSHA guidelines are followed at all times. Hours: Monday – 8:45 am – 4:45 pm Tuesday – 8:45 am – 4:45 pm Wednesday – 12:45 pm – 6:45 pm Thursday – 8:45 am – 4:45 pm Alternating Saturdays – 7:45 am – 1:45 pm *Please note that due to the nature of this position that hours may vary slightly.
