We are looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team! Excellent benefits, 4 day work week, 401k, paid time off and paid training. The main duties of the position will be to help patients by providing clinical and business office assistance in the pediatric clinic of health care providers. Below is a summary of the duties expected to be performed by a Certified Medical Assistant with Snake River Pediatrics. Our medical assistants will welcome patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries. Verify patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; helping them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment. Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; removing sutures; changing dressings. Assesses and evaluates the immunization status and needs of clients through the knowledge of current vaccine preventable disease, immunization guidelines, vaccination schedules, state, federal, and client medical history. Educates clients and caregivers about the importance of immunization, following recommended immunization schedules, possible side effects of immunizations, and aftercare. Triages telephone calls from various professional and non-professional sources regarding immunizations, vaccine safety. Draws up vaccines according to manufacturerxe2x80x99s instructions and administers them using safe and proper techniques and a system of double checks to ensure accuracy. Administers and evaluates tuberculosis skin tests and refers clients as needed per protocol. Completes appropriate client and clinic records to ensure correct vaccines are administered and documented. Works with diverse cultures including non-English speaking clients to overcome barriers to obtaining health care. Counsels and advises clients using interpreters as necessary. Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results. Calls to schedule procedures and tests ordered by clinician. Returns patientsxe2x80x99 phone calls, call patients with lab/test results, and other patient inquiries. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols. Maintain work area, exam rooms, supplies, medications and immunizations. Perform basic triage per specific office protocol procedures. Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management. Effectively cope with typical job stress. Document work processes as required. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited medical assistant program. Certification/Licensure: CPR certification for Health Care Providers. Oregon Medical Assistant-certified certification Skills: Medical terminology. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of CPT & ICD-9 coding procedures. Knowledge of medications and injection procedures. Experience: 3 months experience in an office environment preferred. Other Requirements: Maintain current CPR. Maintain current Medical Assistant certification. Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively. Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing. Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance. Physical Requirements: Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone. Able to use stethoscope and respond to verbal questions. Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone. Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens. Other: Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care service, including injections. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Requires exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
