About the Role Position Title/Job Function: Certified Medical Assistant Position Objective: The Certified Medical Assistant will assist clinicians and other team members in providing thorough, up-to-date patient care and perform a broad range of clinical administrative duties. Essential Functions: Clinical Patient Care: Take and update patient health histories. Prepare patients for exams and procedures and assist clinicians as needed. Perform routine clinical procedures including: Vitals Vaccinations Phlebotomy EKG Spirometry Vision and hearing test Application and removal of continuous glucose monitors (CGM) and connection of CGM to online portals Sterile procedures as needed Clinical Administration: Maintain accurate records of patient care, conditions, progress, and areas of concern in EHR system and update clinicians on new or outstanding information. Monitor and assist with phone calls and faxes. Update internal lists of external providers, hospitals, and imaging centers and help build relationships for referrals. Adhere to HIPAA laws and always ensure patient confidentiality. Partner with Clinic Director, OSHA vendor, and across departments to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations. Inventory medical and cleaning supplies and coordinate purchasing. Clean and stock supplies in exam rooms. Maintain patient educational literature in exam rooms and coordinate reprints as needed. Cross-train on and assist with front desk reception duties as needed. Before, during, and/or after appointments, assist clinicians with all aspects of ordering, tracking, following up on, and communicating with patients about: Appointments (manage ticklers and alarms) Pre-authorizations Prescriptions for medication Referrals Diagnostics including bloodwork and imaging Orders for procedures Clinical correspondence including xe2x80x9cNo responsexe2x80x9d or xe2x80x9cReminderxe2x80x9d letters Insurance-related issues Any other clinical matter Patient Education: Assist with online and in-person nutrition education programs. Train patients on proper usage of continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and blood pressure monitors.
