Assists Physicians and other staff under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Advanced Practice Nurse and/or Physician.Essential Job Functions:xe2x80xa2 Depending on location, performs phlebotomy and specimen processing as directed by delegating provider. xe2x80xa2 Administers, including but not limited to, intramuscular injections, subcutaneous injections, intradermal skin testing, topical medications, ophthalmic drops and nasal spray. xe2x80xa2 Depending on location, performs ECGs, places Holter monitors and downloads telemetry data. xe2x80xa2 Works in conjunction with other staff to maximize clinic flow. xe2x80xa2 Intervenes appropriately in emergency situations. xe2x80xa2 Documents data and changes in the Electronic Medical Record. xe2x80xa2 Provides assistance and or back up support for administrative tasks including but not limited to scheduling patient visits and performing basic “check-in, check out” activities. xe2x80xa2 Obtains measurements, patient history and other intake activities. xe2x80xa2 Stocks and maintains the clinic area including ordering of supplies as needed. xe2x80xa2 Demonstrates knowledge of pertinent aspects and competency with protocols related to the use of chemical disinfection, high level disinfection, and sterilization if required as part of the responsibilities of the role. xe2x80xa2 Depending on location, directs High Level Disinfection scope cleaning in accordance with defined HLD processes. xe2x80xa2 Completes trainings and education including but not limited to Healthcare Provider CPR. xe2x80xa2 Other job functions as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:xe2x80xa2 High school diploma required. xe2x80xa2 Successful completion of a formal Medical Assistant program. xe2x80xa2 Possesses 0 – 3 years of relevant clinical experience. xe2x80xa2 Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) (AAMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred but not required. xe2x80xa2 Some college, preferred. xe2x80xa2 Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association. xe2x80xa2 Excellent communication/listening skills. Substantial interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with pediatric patients, families, physicians, nursing and other allied health and medical center personnel.
